CHOOSING BATHROOM TILES FOR RENOVATION

Choosing bathroom tiles don’t have to be difficult. Although there are so many options available out there right now, it’s important to prioritise a tile that you will love and will represent the character of your home. Choosing a good tile means choosing one that will last you for a long time.

Types of  bathroom tile materials

Ceramic

A ceramic tile is one of the most common tiles used in homes. It’s very durable, easy to clean, and has a lot of available design options in the market. It’s also a great choice for people renovating on a budget.

Because of its accessibility on the market, a ceramic tile can work for your bathroom, laundry area, and even your kitchen and entryways.

Porcelain

A porcelain tile has got the same durability, availability, and all-purpose features of a ceramic tile. But porcelain has the ability to emulate natural stone, brick, or wood. Unlike the natural elements it tries to emulate, porcelain does not need such care and upkeep.

However, porcelain installation can be a bit tricky and may require assistance from experts.

Marble

Marble tiles are known for the elegance and sophistication they bring to any room they’re installed in. For marble tiles, each piece is unique like a fingerprint. Its textures and veined patterns can always upgrade a drab-looking space.

However, marble tiles can come with a hefty price and are more susceptible to scratches and stains. For budget renovations, you can use marble tiles as a decorative feature instead of installing in high-traffic areas like the floor.

Glass

Glass tiles are very customizable in terms of shades, tins, and types that you can apply to a single room. Multi-colored tiles are a great way to add personality to your bathroom.

Glass is also very resistant to stains and molds, and are easily cleaned. They are pretty durable, but dropping something heavy from a great height my cause chipping or cracks.

Slate

Slate tiles are heavy-duty. They are a natural stone floor tile resistant to cracks, scratches, breaks, and chips. It does require regular sealing to prevent stains, but this material can last more than a lifetime.

Because this material is natural, tiles aren’t consistent and may make planning and laying it out difficult. However, it’s gorgeous and can fit in any interior theme, may it be rustic or contemporary.

Travertine

Travertine tiles are stone tiles made out of limestone. It has a marble-like texture and warm earth-tone colors such as tan, rust, beige, and browns.

Travertine is very heavy and can get very expensive. However, it is a gorgeous natural stone that can last very long.

Granite

Granite, sometimes called the “cheaper alternative to marble,” is a great floor option to a laundry room where aesthetics and design aren’t a top priority. It’s a very practical natural tile that is resistant to stains and moisture.

However, for rustic themed bathrooms, a granite tile can be exactly what you need, without sacrificing design preferences.
